padhai ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered study companion operated by Fathom Learning Studio. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use padhai at fathomlearning.studio (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account registration data: email address and password (stored as a bcrypt hash — we never store plaintext passwords).
  • Onboarding data: your name, grade (9–12), and colour theme preference.
  • Chat messages and study queries you send to the AI.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: number of messages sent per day, session timestamps, features used.
  • Device and browser information for service operation and debugging.
  • Payment metadata from Razorpay (order ID, payment ID, plan type, amount, currency). We do not store your card or bank details — these are handled entirely by Razorpay.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate and personalise the Service (e.g., tailoring AI responses to your grade level).
  • To enforce daily message limits (5,000 messages/day).
  • To process payments via Razorpay and send confirmation emails.
  • To communicate service updates, security alerts, and support responses.
  • To improve our AI models and service quality using aggregated, anonymised data.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to any third party.

4. Data Sharing

We share your data only with:

  • Razorpay Software Private Limited — to process subscription payments. Razorpay's privacy policy is available at razorpay.com/privacy.
  • Vercel Inc. — our hosting and infrastructure provider.
  • Neon / PostgreSQL — our database provider for storing account and usage data.
  • AI model providers — your study queries are sent to AI model APIs (Google Gemini via Vercel AI SDK Gateway) to generate responses. Queries may be retained by providers per their own policies.
  • Resend — email delivery service for transactional emails (e.g., payment confirmations).
  • Law enforcement or regulatory bodies if required by applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: retained for the duration of your account. You may request deletion by emailing support@fathomlearning.studio.
  • Chat history: retained to provide the Service. You may delete individual chats from within the app.
  • Payment records: retained as required by Indian accounting and tax regulations (typically 7 years).

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for students aged 14 years and above (Grade 9 and above). If you are under 18 years of age, you should use this Service only with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14 without parental consent. 7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS, bcrypt password hashing, and access-controlled databases. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

Under applicable Indian law (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Withdraw consent to processing where consent is the legal basis.

9. Cookies

We use essential session cookies (via NextAuth.js) to maintain your login state. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can clear cookies via your browser settings, but doing so will log you out of the Service.

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or a prominent notice on the Service. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of courts in India.
